It has been written many times that liberalism is a mental illness. As an attorney friend of mine would say, “That’s harsh”. So rather than making a blanket statement that smacks of liberal smugness and elitism, let’s step back and put that conclusion to the test. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Mental illness refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors.” The Clinic goes on to say that “Examples of signs and symptoms include:
- Feeling sad or down
- Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate
- Excessive fears or worries, or extreme feelings of guilt
- Extreme mood changes of highs and lows
- Withdrawal from friends and activities
- Significant tiredness, low energy or problems sleeping
- Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia or hallucinations
- Inability to cope with daily problems or stress
- Trouble understanding and relating to situations and to people
- Alcohol or drug abuse
- Major changes in eating habits
- Sex drive changes
- Excessive anger, hostility or violence
- Suicidal thinking”
Applying these signs and symptoms to the recent Democrat House of Representatives sit-in, decide for yourself whether the 35 or so Representatives who sat on the floor, disrupted the House and took to the juvenile shouting of, “Shame, shame, shame” qualify as having a form of mental illness. (Please note that if you are not a mental health professional, your results may not be conclusive and may require additional evaluation from a qualified mental health practitioner.)
1- The Democrat sitters claimed their demonstration was motivated by Republicans’ failure to pass anti-gun legislation, in spite of the fact that two Senate bills sponsored by republicans failed to pass.

2- One of the many concepts that Democrats don’t seem to get is called due process. In their zeal to pass laws that give them warm and fuzzies, they find it perfectly acceptable to trample whatever Constitutional right is in the way.

3- Oddly enough, Democrats routinely insist on due process for criminals of all types after they are arrested, yet through their proposed legislation, they would deny due process to people simply because they have been put on a list by an agency that is all too frequently incapable of determining the difference between a 2-year-old infant and suspected criminal.

4- In covering the story, the occasional house organ of the Left Wing Morons, also known as The New York Times, stated, Democrats — who do not have enough strength in either the House or Senate to pass legislation on their own — have resorted to spectacle to highlight their anger over Congress not taking action to tighten the nation’s gun-control laws.”

5- Also from the New York Times- “The House Democrats’ anger, and their willingness to disrupt the proceedings, seemed to take some Republicans by surprise as they stood on the sidelines.”, and, “The Democrats were left in control of the chamber, where they gave a series of impassioned speeches and skirted the television blackout by using Twitter’s live-feed Periscope service to broadcast their efforts. That was a violation of House rules, which bans cameras or other electronic devices on the floor.”
Does this demonstrate;

Depending on the situation, any of the above signs and symptoms could have temporarily applied to even the most mentally stable of people. However, considering that the sit-in lasted for 25 hours, required hours of planning and included active recruitment of participants, a buffet dinner and pledges to continue such practices, removes “temporary” from the equation.
After giving the above questions proper consideration, add one point for every symptom that you think applies. If your total is:
20 or more- You definitely think liberalism is a mental illness
15-19- You think liberalism might be a mental illness
10-14- You think liberalism is probably not a mental illness
5-9- You think liberalism is NOT a mental illness
1-4- You’re a liberal
