America! Land of the free and home of the brave! What do these words mean to you? How do they define us?
First off, let’s look at America. Land of opportunity and where everyone is free to invest in new ideas. If you work hard and use your GOD-given talents, you can achieve as much as you desire. Is it easy, no! Is it rewarding? Yes! Does it mean you have to take risks? Yes! But if you’re willing to work hard, put in the effort, you can and will achieve success. How much? Well, that depends on you and your individual efforts.
Now consider the land of the free and home of the brave.
How did we get here and how do we continue to maintain these traditions? Our country came into existence as a response to tyranny- taxation without representation. A few brave men, and women, took a stand and decided enough was enough. They risked their families, their lives, and their fortunes to build a country where everyone had a chance to succeed. They fought many battles and sacrificed much so that future generations would have the opportunity to prosper. They wanted to leave a legacy for each family to build upon.
Families like Ford, Goodyear, Carnegie, Vanderbilt, Grant, Hilton, and Johnson to name a few, built the foundations for much of what we enjoy today. They came from humble beginnings, worked hard, and made many sacrifices to see their dreams become reality. Today we have few families that exemplify that dream and vision. Instead, we find tabloids with pictures and articles of the latest scandal that rocked an American family. Gone are the days when belonging to a prominent family was a source of pride. Instead we find those members that, while given every opportunity to do something worthwhile, set out to go against family tradition. They are more interested in pushing the envelope, than in making positive contributions to their families or to society.
There are a few notable exceptions. But very few. One such example is the Trump family. Have you ever heard anything negative about Donald Trump’s children? They were raised to respect, to do for others, and work hard to carry on the family name. As young kids they spent time with their father on job sites, at events, and giving back to the community. They were raised to appreciate what they have, not take it for granted. They are a reflection of the values of their environment. Even today, you see them out there supporting and working hard for their father and this country. Not because they have to, but because they want to.
Theirs is a story of family, hard work, dedication, and love for their fellow man. It’s those values that set them apart. It’s those values that will help lead America forward.
We have a choice to make in November 8. And I for one believe that choice is clear: Donald Trump/Mike Pence. Working together I know they will keep America the land of the free and home of the brave. Does Donald Trump have flaws. Absolutely. But I have yet to meet a person who is without flaws. And in spite of those flaws, I believe that he is a true believer in protecting the American dream.
That dream continues to exist because of the sacrifices made by brave men and women. We need a president who appreciates those sacrifices and is focused on saying “thank you” to our current military and veterans.
Please join me in saying thank you to all who have given so much for us! The lights are still on and burning brightly. It is our responsibility to make sure they continue to light up the future.
